INTERNATIONAL FORUM APK "MEMORY FOR THE FUTURE"
On May 29-31, 2019, the X International Forum of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan “Memory for the Future” was held in Nur-Sultan, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression and Hunger in Kazakhstan.
The Forum was attended by leading scientists and experts from all regions of Kazakhstan, as well as from the cities of the countries of near and far abroad, in particular from Moscow, Grozny, Nalchik, Bishkek, Tashkent, Vienna, Seoul, public representatives and descendants of the repressed. The director of the APK Institute of Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, was a participant of the eventful events of the forum, doctor of historical Sciences Zh.U. Kydyralina, who spoke at the scientific and practical conference "Historical and Cultural Understanding of the past for the prosperity of the future" held on may 30 at the National Museum of Kazakhstan in the thematic section on key areas and prospects of research of national memory with the report "Declassified destinies": political repression against the national intelligentsia and participants of youth organizations in Kazakhstan in the 1920-1980s in the documents of the archives of special agencies". After the conference, its participants, leading scientists and specialists, conducted world lessons in the educational institutions of the capital. On May 31, Forum participants visited the museum-memorial complex “ALZHIR” in the village of Akmol, Akmola region, where they participated in a rally of flowers and a flower laying ceremony at the memory wall with the names of inmates of the Akmola camp of traitorous wives' innocent victims during the years of Stalinist repression. A minute of silence and laying flowers honored the memory of the victims of mass political terror during the Soviet period, the conference participants, along with representatives of the general public and guests of the capital, at the monument to the victims of famine of 1932-1933 on Abay Avenue in Nur-Sultan. Then the participants of the events held a flash mob “Memory Watch” at the monument “Қазақ еліне мың алғыс”, tied white ribbons to the tree of wishes in tribute to the memory of those who left, and in the evening on the same day they staged the production of the Tbilisi State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after A.S. Griboedov "ALZHIR" on the stage of the Kazakh Academic Music and Drama Theater. K. Kuanyshbaeva.
