«MEMORY FOR THE FUTURE»
Under such name today, May 27, in Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov held a round table dedicated to May 31 - the day of memory of victims of mass hunger and political repression in Kazakhstan in the Soviet period.
The event was attended by leaders and representatives of state and public authorities, the scientific expert community, faculty members and youth of universities, the APK Scientific Expert Group, ethno-cultural associations, regional media, descendants of victims of the totalitarian regime. The participants of the event reviewed the issues of development of new areas of historical research on mass political repressions of the Soviet period, the activities of regional archives to identify and use documents on political repression. In the meeting room of the Academic Council was also organized a book exhibition of the works of university scientists on the issue of political repression. Scientists and members of the public shared their views on the forms of work to preserve the memory of the tragedy of the past for future generations. The lessons of history teach not to repeat past mistakes and to preserve civil peace.
