Association of Universities of the Caspian states (membership October 2016)

      The association was founded in 1996 on the initiative of Astrakhan State Technical University (Russia) and Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (Iran). Members of the Association are more than 50 organizations from 5 countries: Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan.
      The main activities of the assembly are aimed at solving problems in the field of Education, Culture and ecology of the Caspian region, implementing joint international projects, exchanging students and teachers, retraining and advanced training of specialists.
      Since its participation in the Association, Atyrau University has been implementing joint scientific and educational activities with the participants of the Caspian universities.
      In 2017, the XX Anniversary General Assembly of the Association of State Universities of the Caspian Countries was held on the basis of Atyrau University. Within the framework of this event, the Center of the Iranian Language and Culture was opened, which embodies the cooperation not only of the two universities, but also of the two countries united by the Caspian Sea.
       In March 2018, the International Expert Meeting "Law and Media in the Caspian Region: Fundamentals and Prospects of Cooperation"was held within the framework of the chairmanship of Atyrau University. It was attended by scientists from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia.
       In September 2018, the 6th International Universiade in 11 sports was organized at Atyrau University among students of 43 universities of Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Kazakhstan, which are members of the Association of State Universities of the Caspian Countries, and brought together more than 500 student athletes.
       In December 2018, within the framework of the Association of Caspian States, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Astrakhan River School, a thematic auditorium of Kazakh culture "Kazakhstan"was opened in Astrakhan on the basis of the Caspian Institute of Sea and River Transport of the AU. The purpose of opening the audience is to get acquainted with the history, culture, traditions and customs of the Kazakh people.
      On August 20, 2020, Atyrau University held an online drawing contest "The Caspian Sea through the eyes of Youth" within the framework of cooperation between universities of the Caspian countries.
