Russian Philology Department trains specialists in bachelor's degree programs: 5B011800 "Russian language and literature", 5B012200 "Russian language and literature in schools with a non-Russian language of instruction".
The mission of the Department is to train highly qualified multilingual specialists who are in demand on the labor market in the Republic of Kazakhstan and Western regions.
The Department of Russian Philology occupies a special place in the history of the faculty and the University. Over 65 years, its name has changed, the staff has expanded, and it has been renamed the Department.
The history of the Department begins in 1950 at the Guriev pedagogical Institute. The philological Department has trained teachers of Russian and Kazakh languages and literature. From 2010 to 2016- the Department headed by candidate of philological Sciences, associate Professor S. S. Dutbayeva.
Since the 2012-2013 academic year, the rector of the University, Professor Mamrayev Beybit Baimagambetuly became a member of this Department.
In order to optimize the educational process for the 2014-2015 academic year, two specialties of the Department 5B050400 - "Journalism" were combined and supplemented with teachers of Kazakh Philology and journalism.
From October 7, 2016- candidate of philological sciences, associate Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and journalism M. T. Mukasheva worked as the head of the Department.
