The Department of mathematical analysis started functioning in 1956 under the name of the Department of mathematics. The first head of the Department was senior teacher M. N. Salamatin. The Department of mathematics was renamed the Department of mathematical analysis. In different years at the Department worked professors K. Kammatov (1971-1976), K. Dairov (1976-1986), I. Tazhimuratov, R. Shakibaliev (1986-2003), K. Turzhigitova (2003-2011).
Since 1994, has been working at the Department of algebra and geometry. Head of the Department from 1994 to 2000 held the position of doctor of technical Sciences, Professor B. Kenzhegulov, 2000 and 2001 - associate professor G. Shambilova headed. From 2001-2011- Candidate of physic-mathematical Sciences K. Uteuliyeva supervised the Department staff.
In September 2011, by the decree of the University, the Department of "mathematical analysis" and "Algebra and geometry" was merged and renamed the Department of "Mathematics and methods of teaching mathematics". Head of the Department candidate of physic-mathematical Sciences, associate Professor N. K. Appointed Shazhdekeeva.
