Department history

Russian Philology and Journalism Department trains personnel in bachelor's degree 5B011800 "Russian language and Literature" (since 1955), 5B012200 "Russian language and literature in schools with a non-Russian language of instruction", 5B050400 "Journalism" (since 2001).

The mission of the department is to train specialists for pedagogical and journalistic activities in organizations of the city of Atyrau, the region and the republic.

The Department of Russian Philology and Journalism occupies a special place in the history of the faculty and the university. For 67 years, the composition of its employees expanded and narrowed, the name of the department changed.

The history of the department begins in 1950 – the time of the formation of the Pedagogical Institute in Guryev. The Philological department trained teachers of Russian and Kazakh language and literature. Initially, the Department of Language and Literature consisted of 4 teachers. The first head of the department was Candidate of Philological Sciences V.P.Zhukov.

In the 1950s and 1970s, such specialists as V.P. Zhukov, N.E.Bakharev, L.N. Tikhova, Yu.F. Romanova, L.I. Bely, I.R.Emelchenko, N.P.Konysova, L.N.Donskova, G.G. Gelmanov, E.S.Afanasyev, N.V.A. Bogdanov, V.G. Denisova, L.M. Zhegulina, T.N. Politova, S.N. Korsunsky, etc. Later, V.P. Zhukov, E.S.Afanasyev, In 1970-1980, the department was replenished with graduates of KazGU and other educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan: M.B.Kurkutova, A.N.Vanshenker (Kartasheva), M.A.Damebayeva (Diarova) G.M., O.A. Potapenko, M.M.Temirkhanova, Zh.E. Ergalieva (Kenzhebaeva), Ermekova, O.V.Dumanaeva, O.V.Pereverzeva, L.V.Arbuzova, etc. Among the teachers of the department there are many graduates of the GPI: M.A.Adrisova, N.J.Umurzakova, N.P.Kravchenko (Samartseva), M.A.Matzhanova, G.B.Baizhigitova, G.R.Kuznetsova, N.A.Karminskaya, S.S.Dutbayeva, S.I.Kamelova, etc. Later V.P. Zhukov, E.S.Afanasyev, N.P.Kravchenko (Samartseva).

Russian Russian Philology and the practical course of the Russian language were merged in the 2010-2011 academic year. The following teachers were transferred to the Department of Russian Philology: Candidate of Philological Sciences, Academic Professor Kartasheva A.N.; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Balmagambetova N.K.; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Mukanova G.Zh.; academic Associate Professor Nurudinova G.S.; academic associate Professor Kenzhegalieva S.K.; senior teachers Bisengalieva S.I., Barisheva S.H.; Esenamanova N.A.; Mukhtarova G.S.; Zhalmukhanova Z.Zh.; Kabdulova G.M.; Utegenova G.K. Candidate of Philological Sciences, Acting Associate Professor S.S. Dutbayeva was transferred from the Department of Kazakh Philology; senior teachers S.H. Zhumagazieva and G.M. Sakhualina were transferred from the Department of the practical course of the Kazakh language.

Since November 2010, the department has been headed by the Candidate of Philological Sciences, Acting Associate Professor S.S. Dutbayeva.br> Since the 2012-2013 academic year, the rector of the University – Doctor of Philology, Professor Beibut Baymagambetovich Mamraev has been a member of the department.

In 2001, the specialty "Journalism" was opened and students were accepted for full-time and part-time studies. At that time, the head of the department was appointed Doctor of Philology, Professor K.U.Zhusip.
From 2005 to 2010, the Department of "Kazakh Literature and Journalism" was headed by the Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A.T.Sadykova.

When the specialty "Journalism" was opened, according to the characteristics of the profession, an educational and methodological council was created at the department. Journalists L.K.Mazhitova - from the regional television, A.B. Temirgalieva - a graduate of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian University, one of the first graduates of the department - N.N.Nurlanova, historian-journalist K. were accepted for teaching at the department.Sundetuly.

In the 2006-2007 academic year, the Educational television center was opened with the support of the Rector's Office. Studio classes were held in the educational television center under the guidance of the teacher of the department A.B. Temirgalieva, students filmed videos, radio communication was connected.

In 2007-2008, the laboratory of "Journalistic Excellence" was opened, which was headed by the former editor of the Atyrau regional newspaper, a lecturer of the department T.Zhauyrov. Files of newspapers and magazines, old printed publications, books, research papers were collected, stands dedicated to the life and work of publicists - representatives of older generations were made. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the journalist, famous scientist, teacher Tauman Amandosov, a scientific conference was held, the audience was named after him. Master classes of well-known journalists Aitkali Nurgaliev, Isatai Balmaganbetov, Nazarbayev Kosshiev, Regina Valisheva, etc. were held. For a long time, veterans of journalism, associate professors T.Zhauyrov, T.Zhanabayuly, O.Alimgereev worked at the department.
In 2010-2014, the head of the Department of "Kazakh Literature and Journalism" was Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor A.Kydyrbaykyzy.

The first graduates of the specialty "Journalism" today work in regional, city newspapers, on television. Sadykova Gulzhan is a TV journalist in the Atyrau branch of RTRK "Kazakhstan", Kamen Yerbolat was the editor of the newspaper "Astana Akshamy". At the moment he is the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Republican newspaper "Egemen Kazakhstan" JSC. Anuar Zhamankulov - worked on regional television, Lazzat Salimova - correspondent of the newspaper "Caspian Commune", Nurgul Ysmagulova-correspondent of the regional newspaper "Atyrau", Nazira Ashim -specialist of the Atyrau regional center of folk art, Yahuda Artur - head of the organization "Altyn Topshy". Some of the graduates were left to teach at the department, in the educational TV and radio studio. For example, Nurgul Nurlanova, Anar Yesetova, Elmira Gilazheva, after completing their master's degree, continued their work at the university.

In the 2014-2015 academic year, in order to optimize the educational process, "5B050400 - Journalism" joined the two specialties of the department and the department was replenished with teachers of the Department of Kazakh Philology and Journalism.

Since October 7, 2016, the Department of Russian Philology and Journalism has been headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor M.T. Mukasheva. The Department of Journalism as an independent one was established by the decision of the Academic Council of Atyrau State University named after H.Dosmukhamedov on June 19, 2017.
The learning process at the department combines rich traditions and experience of journalistic knowledge accumulated during the existence of the specialty "journalism", uses new technologies and principles of the educational process, actively introducing new educational methods.
A great contribution to the development of the department was made by Doctor of Philology, Professor, Knight of the Order "Parasat" K.U.Zhusup, Candidate of Philology, Professor A.T.Sadykova, Candidate of Philology B.M.Abdeshev, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor A.K. Kydyrbayeva.

Currently, the department is headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, laureate of the Prize of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, Winner of the grant funding competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for scientific and scientific and technical projects for 2018 - 2020, holder of the title "Best University Teacher" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2018, M.T.Mukasheva.

Well–known scientists and practical journalists teach at the department: masters N.N.Nurlanova, ZhK.Kalim, G.B.Ismurzina, A.K.Zhumabayeva, E.Gilazheva senior lecturer L.K.Mazhitova, Ph.D., deputy. Director of Atyrau-Akparat LLP, Master R.M.Kulmagambetov, Editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper "Caspian Commune", Honorary journalist of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.H.Shalabayeva. Editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper "ATYRAU" I.K.Balmagambetov, director of the branch of RTRK "Kazakhstan-Atyrau" K.Auesbay, deputy director of the branch of RTRK "Kazakhstan-Atyrau" B.P.Khalelova.

At the department, master classes are conducted by well-known journalists such as, for example, member of the World Organization for Mass Communication and Journalism ORBICOM at UNESCO, laureate of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of mass media, Editor-in-Chief of the regional newspaper "ATYRAU" Isatai Balmagambetov, Head of the Department of Culture of the regional newspaper "ATYRAU" Candidate of Philological Sciences Gulzada Nietkalieva.
The department employs 2 academicians of the International Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, 1 laureate of the prize of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2 candidates of Sciences, 6 members of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Teachers of the department participate in international scientific conferences, symposiums and become holders of republican scientific grants.

The department has a material and technical base (computer class, TV studio, radio studio, editorial office of the newspaper "University"), which allows to conduct theoretical and practical training according to the curriculum of the specialty. The department has three named classrooms: the auditorium named after the Doctor of Philology, Professor T.S.Amandosov, the auditorium named after the famous journalist, associate professor T.Zh.Zhauyrov, the Media School in Atyrau-Akparat LLP, Caspian News, in which students are engaged in various types of educational activities.
