Kazakhstan hosted International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL) at the first time.

XIV MAPRYAL Congress was held at the capital of Kazakhstan – Nur-Sultan, between 29th of April and 4th of May in 2019. The topic of the congress was “Russian language in multilingual world”. 450 people from 47 countries participated in XIV MAPRYAL Congress.

Event organizers - International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL), Kazakhstani Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (KazPRYAL), the “Russkiy Mir” foundation and Eurasian National University.

Doctors of philological sciences of Atyrau State University, such as N.Zh. Umurzakova, S.I. Kamelova, S.S. Dutbaeva, actively engaged in this big event of worldwide Russian studies by conducting reports during panel discussions.

Plenary and panel discussion were also visited by famous scientists and representatives of Russian, Kazakhstan, USA, Finland, which characterized Russian language as one of the worldwide languages.

During the Congress there were meetings related to 14 scientific areas, that encompassed the most actual aspects of linguistic description, analysis, teaching of Russian language and literature, translational and cultural studies. Discussion studies were represented by 6 round tables.

The new board was elected during plenary of the General Assembly MAPRYAL. The president of MAPRYAL became V.I. Tolstoy, advisor of the president of Russia, descendant of L.N. Tolstoy.

The next XV MAPRYAL Congress will be held in Saint Petersburg in 2023.
