Kh.Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University moved up 60 positions in the prestigious global ranking “UI Green Metric Ranking of World Universities - 2018” and once again strengthened the leading positions and 'green' reputation among Kazakhstani universities.
ASU ranked 318th among 719 universities of the world! The implementation of environmental management principles is one of the important directions of the university's strategy and the Eco Campus development department team has been actively working on improvements of the “green indicators”, thereby increasing them from 4109 up to 4900 points!
In addition to Atyrau State University, 9 Kazakhstani universities were included in the rating: Al-Farabi KazNU - 172, Kazakh National Agrarian University - 356, Almaty University of Energy and Communications - 480, Karaganda State Technical University - 482, Yasavi International Kazakh-Turkish University - 499, Kostanay State Pedagogical University - 570, Kazakh Engineering and Technological University - 609, University Narxoz - 646, and Nazarbayev University - 701.
The rating is held for the eighth time and compares various universities on their strive to achieve sustainability and development of an eco-environment. The rating is calculated based on indicators in six main categories: Green Indicators (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste Management (18% ), Water use (10%), Transportation (18%), and education (18%).
In 2018, 719 universities from 78 countries took part compared to  619 universities from 75 countries last year.
